Project overview The challenge
Ferrero Australia was in need of a new website for their iconic hazelnut spread Nutella. The new site had to be brand and recipe focused, as well as highlighting the origins and rich history of Nutella. The new website had to be highly visual and showcase the branding throughout and had to look great on both desktop and mobile devices.
The new website was designed and developed putting heavy emphasis on the product imagery. The brand imagery and recipes are in your face and are used throughout the site. The main idea behind this, is to entice and encourage users to buy and try Nutella on the many recipes on offer.
Since it’s a brands and marketing site, the visuals came first and content was secondary in the way it was designed and built. Usually when designing a site, you would make content priority, but in this case since it’s all about marketing we really had to drive the brand image and overload users with Nutella.
We also had to make sure the design experience across the different devices were the same throughout. Overall, the design served its purpose well as a pure marketing brand’s site, showcasing recipes and the origins of Nutella. The website was designed and developed in conjunction with Thirsty Digital and Ferrero Australia.
